This is always a weird time for me, in my head, it's the first week of January that's about Beginnings and Endings, not New Year's Day.
The first bookstore I worked at, I started the first week of January.  I can't remember the exact date, but I know I *just* missed inventory, which at Turn the Page was January 1, no matter what.  So no New Year's Eve parties...  This is the time I think of as the Beginning of  a career as a bookseller that lasted eighteen years.

In 2007, I was working at Waldenbooks.  Thanksgiving 2006, we told we were going to be closed.  We worked through Christmas, and then packed up the store.  Our last day was January 7.

I continued to work as a bookseller for an independent bookstore for a couple of years, but it wasn't the same as working at Waldenbooks.

Both of these points hit me every year, and I get a little lost.
