Right now, as I write this, we're at condition 'orange'. This means somewhere, the shit's piling up. When we go 'red' it mean's the shit's hit the fan.
Oddly enough, I'm not worried, not about the terrorists anyway, despite the fact I'm living in the same town as the world's biggest military base, working at a mall named after an military icon, MacArthur Center, that's located right next to a federal building.
To these things I'm not only unconcerned, I'm practicaly apathetic. These are the obvious threats to liberty and life.
It's the subtle ones I'm worried about.
Apparently, the draft boards have started looking for people to fill positions, the guys who exmine eligiblity and declare deferments.
They, the government, doesn't do this without a reason. But now, it's difficult to find this information out on the web, stufff that was available only a week ago. Now it's gone. Who removed it?(Obviously the same people who posted it originally, the Government.) Why did they remove it? If it didn't smack of paranoia, I'd say they're hiding something.

To combat the seasonal grotesque levels of cheer, I've gone through my video collection and started rewatching old episodes of Millennium. The FX Channel marathon broadcast 11.28.99 (geebus, was it THAT long ago?) is especially helpful, though I'd love to find my copy of Amnesis (sp) - it was about the bloodline of Christ and Mary Madgelene, several years before The Davinci Code, and better written. It also dealt with school shootings, pre-Columbine. Odd sometimes to think, yes, there were shootings before then. (One of the first "famous" shootings was here in Tidewater, at Atlantic Shores Christian School. There was a book written about it by the same fellow who wrote Isaacs Storm.)
I recently found a supressed comicbook online, Warren Ellis's Hellblazer #141. It also dealt with school shootings, but DC pulled the story at the last minute.

We recently got a Sharper Image here at the mall. It's located right next to a As Seen on TV store. No one else seems to grasp the irony of this other than me.
