First, a word of advice to AUTHORS, Authors, and "authors"- especially "subsidy" authors: FOR CHRIST'S SAKE PEOPLE, MAKE SURE YOUR BOOK IS IN BOOKS IN PRINT!!! Especially you subsidary types- you've paid for the damn listing. Make sure your publisher lists both the book title AND YOUR NAME. Depending on your service BIP is updated monthy, with weekly suppliments. There is no excuse. And "it hasn't come out yet" is a load of crap. Books are regularly listed three months in advance. (Tonight I saw a listing for March of 05).
Jesus. Honestly, if a bookseller can't find it easily, then it doesn't deserve to sell.* For the record- I've been doing this for over a decade. It's given me plenty of time to grow bitter.

* Just a bit harsh... I need to relax a little maybe.
(end ranty noise)

Well, I got chapter 1 out of the notebook and onto the hard drive. 16 pages paper equals 10 pages computer. If I were writing this with my standard "worry" mindset, I'd start thinking "well, it's not going to be a very long novel, is it?" But I'm rather in a "that was a nice paragraph... now, let's write a sentence. that was a nice sentence. ok, what should the next word be?" live in the now mindset. Except when I'm transcribing, and even then, it's a bulk transfer, warts and all. I'll have plenty of time to polish later.

Man, booksellers are just going to hate me when this thing comes out...

I saw Aliens Vs Predator today. Fun. True to the source material- Aliens rather than Alien, since well, the bleeding acid thing got turned down a notch there first, though effective use of the bloodacid in a fight was pretty nifty.
There's an ugly, fannish part of me that wants to see a Klingon take on a Predator.
Maybe if this thing does well enough, it can jumpstart the franchises... and maybe, just maybe someday, if I'm lucky, they can bring my favourite Alien to the screen: Flying Queen Alien. A long time ago, I used to carry her around with me, perched on my shoulder like some demon parrot for Satan's pirate crew. I've gotten a life since then.

My life sort of runs in cycles... I just moved my CSI stuff from a milk crate shelf to a bookshelf shelf for easier access. In doing so, I covered up my Walt Disney dvds. What this means to my waking mind? Grissom and Willows, on demand. What this means to my subconsicious? I've covered over Fantasia and MuLan with GSR* tests and ALS** scans for bodily fluids.
*Gun Shot Residue
** Alternate Light Source- Ultraviolet, that sort of thing.

OOOOOH, I know: Just to COMPLETLY sever my sense of the real, I'm going to put Millennium on the CSI shelf. Cause CSI's kinda like Millennium... just y'know, happier. And with fewer serial killers.

RNC's just a couple of days away... you're our eyes and our ears on the street.
Personally, I'm hoping for something along the lines of WTO Seattle.
Smash, smash those Starbuck's windows!!
