Sep. 24th, 2004 12:48 amI paid my phone bill today. This means I get to stay online for another thirty days. Literally.
I haven't done a time check recently, but last time I had to log off (because I'd accidently picked up an nasty case of electronic std- spyware, foul evil spyware) I'd been online 5615 minutes. That's 93.58 hours. 3.899 days. Without interruption.
I slept, actually, and went to work. But I was still connected to the big electronic grid. My away message has either my cell phone number or my work number. So, maybe I can't be reached by IM, there's still the old fashion way. I can be reached via my cell phone and txt msgs there.
The cell phone comes with a gps locator. That means they know where I am. I may have mentioned this before here, but I like that feature of the cell phone. THEY know where I am almost every second of the day. Not even my mother knows that.
They must really love me.
This feeling I get, when I feel all conncected... that's the future I'm feelin' in my bones. It's a technological sense of wonder we've forgotten about. Notice how there's very little talk about long distance rates, and it's all cell phone minutes? That's because I can call Toronto as cheaply as I can call my parents. My coworkers don't remember the time when we had to wait til 11 pm to call. Because the future is here. And it fits in my back pocket.

Electronic STD's
Date: 2004-09-24 12:15 am (UTC)Today I heard from someone that IE actually launches javascripts embedded into .png image files. Yet another reason to avoid it.
Re: Electronic STD's
Date: 2004-09-24 02:28 am (UTC)I have a browser highjack protection program, geared for IE, and that was what alerted me that I had the stuff on my computer... the homepage kept changing. Not that it affected me, Mozilla is my friend.
