Not Hockey Night in Norfolk...
Oct. 20th, 2004 07:23 pmI got called into work today. On my day off.
It's raining. On my day off.
The only thing that got me through the day was the thought "There's an Admirals game tonight."
But I'm not there... because I carry a tote bag. Carrying two notebooks, two paperbacks and a article of clothing I picked up at Dillards today on my lunch break. When I got to Scope, I was told "No bags allowed. Just purses." I saw several women with bags triple the size of mine go in, allowed through just because they were carrying purses. I would have gladly allowed them to search my bag, but they've got their policy.
It was suggested, by two different people, I go put my bag in my car, except I don't drive. I walk. In the rain.
So, tonight the Admirals aren't getting my $16 dollars. Scope's not getting any money for concessions.
All they're getting from me tonight is bad press.
I'll know better in the future. Go see games held on my day off. Or leave my books at work.
In their defense: 1) A fellow named Bob offered to wave me in after searching my bag. This was after a gentleman in a suit told me no, and I didn't want to complicate things. and 2)The information is posted, three levels down, on their website.
At least I'll be able to listen to the game on the radio. I hope the Admirals win.
