Jan. 19th, 2005 12:45 amPlanning the long weekend. Yes, Spookycon was lovely, but I need to get out for a couple of days, out of Norfolk, away from downtown.
From downtown to Yorktown.
There's a quaint - it says so on their website- little motel, the Duke of York, right on the York River. This is nice, since the temperature is dropping by orders of magnitude, so the tourists will be at a minimum. According to the pictures on the site, the beach looks lovely. Sub zero celsius temperatures are the only things that make beaches appealing.
I've bought a new speedo for the occasion.
No, there won't be pictures of that.
It'll be nice to see friend C again, haven't seen him since the Cruxshadows show in 03. Wow. How the year passed so quickly. Oh, look. Gray hair.
It shouldn't bother me so much, except it's a chest hair. I don't have enough on my head these days to have any gray there.
Sister Alice is facilitating the trip to and from Yorktown. Quality time with my sibling, on the road. We do, however, realize our limits. A car trip any longer than that to the Compound, about three hours, we're sniping. Well, I'm sniping.
Me:"Mind the horse.
Her:"It's in the field."
Me:"Mind the pedestrian."
Her:"Where?"
Me:"On the sidewalk."
Being on the Penninsula will afford me the opportunity to hit Benders, a comicbook store that's been around forever. Joe, Alice's spousal unit, gave me a $20 gift certificate to Benders for Christmas. Hmmm, Detonation Radio is out, and I did pick up the first Global Frequency collection last year before going to Exmore. There's a nice symmetry there.
Ellis has to get writing some more GF, so I can have something for my 2006 trip.

Lately, I've had an LJ pencil icon on my tool bar at the bottom of the screen blinking red. Has this happened to anyone else?
