Feb. 11th, 2005 06:41 pmI suppose it's geared toward this new generation of movie fed monster children... but the new commercial for Ringling Bros./Barnum & Bailey starts with a group of performers backlit walking forward and the phrase "in a world..." and later uses the phrase "this time it's...". I can't quite remember what it's time for I was so shocked

Arthur Miller is dead. From NBC's list of accomplishments, ok, it WAS the last item but still, "Marilyn Monroe's ex-husband."

Ok, I'm not big on war or guns or stuff but I'm a little bothered by this:
"You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn't wear a veil," Mattis said. "You know, guys like that ain't got no manhood left anyway. So it's a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them."
What bothers me is, hey... I kind of agree with him. It's being quoted all over the place, but out of context. People who have condemned him have to realize the flip side of their condemnation: "men who slap women around don't deserve to be shot." Maybe they'd be happier if the abusers went to therapy and talked it out.
Am I making sense? Soldiers=good. Abusers=bad.
Damn. Time to cut off the caffine supply.
