Out of the Tardis...
Mar. 17th, 2005 02:00 amand on to the internet. I've seen the first twenty or so minutes of the new Doctor Who program from the BBC, and I have to say it looks fun. Remember fun?
So far, it's mostly the adventures of his new sidekick Rose, the Doctor popping in and saving her when she gets cought up in the madness. Living Plastic, killer manequins, attack trashcans. I'm not sure if it's the same menace as before, but it's done in the classic style.
There's a new sidekick, Rose, who's a regular city girl type thrust into the wackiness.
The new Doctor... well, haven't seen enough to get a proper bead on him yet. Not much in the way of technospeak yet, so he's just been pleasantly annoying to Rose when not putting her in peril.
Fun bit- monster rampage in a resturant- BBC using morphing to pull off a poorman's T2 effect.
Best bit, so far- Rose's reaction shot after entering the Doctor's ship and discovering it's larger on the inside.
And despite having developed a fondness for the previous design for the interior of the Doctor's ship, during the Paul McGann movie, the Tardis interior in this incarnation isn't bad.
Ultimate verdict- this will appeal most to nonfans, since the TruFans will be too mired in discussions about the changes to appreciate just how much fun the whole thing is.

And in case you were wondering, just *how* did Clay manage to see this footage, NINE days before it's formally broadcast in England, click HERE.

Rogue- if you're still in contact with Mel, give him a head's up on this...
