Geek morning
Apr. 6th, 2005 08:46 amGODZILLA is playing at the Naro this weekend.
The original one, from the fifties.
The boys are planning a lottery to figure out which of them gets to go with me. Usually this wouldn't bother me, except for the fact that I've caught a couple of them reading Shirley Jackson.

Google maps has satellite imagery. This means I can call up a pic of my neighbourhood from a spycams view. They're still pix, of course, and looking at Downtown, there's some buildings there in the pic that aren't there in real time any longer.
--
Our local NPR affiliate is doing the begathon right now, and one of their premiums is the Radio Shark, available for a $200 contribution. I don't know why that bothers me. Maybe because I can listen to WHYY over the net- I always suffer from a grass is greener syndrome listening to other NPR stations. And there's only a three minute or so differential between what's on the radio and what's over the net. (Yes, I am listening to both.) ((It IS three minutes. It was 8:22 when they announced 8:19. That's a margin of error I can live with.))

ADM: The Nature of What's to Come. 1) I'm always going to be confused as to the commercial free sponsorship on NPR. ADM is a company. I know their slogan. As well as their earlier slogans (including my favourite:"Supermarket to the World.") This is ADVERTISTING.
2) It sounds like a threat. Or something from William Gibson.

Every time I hear a (an?) URL (seriously- a or an? say it aloud. my head hurts) ANYWAY
URL's on tv- when I hear them, I check them as soon as I can. From the Simpsons: www.whatbadgerseat.com. It's great... Lisa's reading from her laptop, and the site is verbatum to what she says.

I don't know how I can legitemately criticize the war without a real vested interest*. So I've been considering joing the National Guard. Right now, the only thing keeping me from doing it is the boot camp. Not that I couldn't handle it, it's just I couldn't subject my boss to eight weeks without me. Yes, I do think I'm that important to the organization.
It's earlier than I'm used to.
Thankfully I've got a short day today.
*Sometimes the logic circuits don't work at 100%. That statement makes sense to me, but I can't really explain it to other people very well.
