Cold Case: Let's do the Time Warp again...
May. 1st, 2005 08:47 pmNot something I thought I'd say, but I think I might try and see the Rocky Horror Picture Show again. It's been a few years, so I need to remind myself why I don't go.
Cold Case's episode tonight was "Creatures of the Night," a murder case from the seventies with ties to a Rocky Horror Picture Show performance.
Two kids from Philly in the seventies go into the theatre late, just in time for the Time Warp. The next time we see one of them, he's dead.
As they investigate the case, flashbacks are scored to pieces from the soundtrack, with an extra added melodramatic "umph" in the acting, in a style not to far removed from the over the top earnestness off Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon as Brad and Janet.
Oh, yeah. Bostwick plays a serial killer.
There's a really surreal feel to the whole episode, in a good way- my only complaint is... (oh man, I can't believe I've noticed it, and maybe I'm wrong...) I don't think "Superheros" was part of the show back then, being part of the British version... AGH!! I checked IMDB. I'm right.
Cold Case uses a song to score a flashback that wasn't present in the 1977 prints of RHPS.
Ah well. It's not all bad.
(It's not all Brad either...)

I posted that before the finale. Amazing. Just totally fucking amazing.
