Mar. 31st, 2002 11:14 pmLists: Looking at the various stacks and piles and shelves around my room:
DVD's- I arranged my dvds' by director: Four directed by Dario Argento (Suspiria, Inferno, Phenomena, & Tenebre), plus two (Demons 1 & 2) in the Argento collection, four by Carpenter (Halloween, The Thing, In the Mouth of Madness, and Ghosts of Mars), and three by Fulci (The Beyond, City of the Living Dead, The House by the Cemetary, plus Zombie on VHS).
..
This is the first year that I've read all the finalists on any list- this time it's the Bram Stoker Awards- American Gods by Neil Gaiman, The Black House by Stephen King and Peter Straub, The Lost by Jack Ketchum, and To Dust Returned by Ray Bradbury. Plus Caitlin Kiernan issue of the Dreaming #55- The First Adventure of Miss Katerina Poe.
..
Got a little more on The Project. I really should give each project a number, so I can say "Project X, is going nicely, but Project J is on hold til I can work out a plot-hole."
..
I got From Weird and Distant Shores and Wrong Things by Caitlin Kiernan this week. Both contain collaborations with Poppy Z Brite as an extra perk. Enough to keep me busy for a couple of weeks.
..
I'm running out of space on my primary book shelf- the top shelf is reserved for anthologies and hardcover Neil Gaiman novels, next shelf is for Kiernan, Brite, and David Niall Wilson- FWaDS and WTs means I have to move things- need to get rid of my mass market reading copy of Brite's Lazarus Heart- will probably move it to the potential ebay pile unless I can find a good home for it, shouldn't be too hard; next shelf down is Skipp & Spector, Yvonne Navarro and CHarles Grant- Navarro has a new buffy book out- will need space for that once I get it- oh yeah, she also has a BS award nominee- The Willow Files; next to last shelf is Books on writing, nonfiction, F. Paul Wilson, and hardcover Clive Barkers; bottom shelf is the worst: Lovecraft and Cthulhuania- there's a lot of duplication in collections and anthologies- then Richard Laymon (I still have my sister's copy of Bite. I don't for see her getting it back. Ever.) and Joe R. Lansdale.
This is just my primary bookshelf, the one that I've had the longest. It used to belong to my maternal grandmother, the one I blame for my bibliophilia. Next to my parents, she was the single most influential person in my life growing up. If it weren't for her, well, I have no idea what path I would have taken, but she was the one who taught me the importance of books. Thank you, Nana.
