Out of respect for [livejournal.com profile] gingeranne, I'm not saying anything about The Devil's Rejects aside from [livejournal.com profile] 1stcyborg and I saw it last night.
I will mention that the movie theater I saw it at had a notice in the window- "No Handguns Permitted in Theater." Being the uptight whight guy that I am, my mind immediately went to class issues... "well, if the theater is frequented by the sort of people who NEED to be told to leave their guns home..." much like the "No Smoking/No Spitting" signs in the Illuminatus Trilogy.
No, says 1C. Apparently, it has, as do many things these days, something to do with the PATRIOT Act. Arming the citizens against bad people, the statement at the theater absolves the theater of any liability in the case of collateral damage in the event of a gun toting hero taking down an innocent civilian in pursuit of a bad guy.
I couldn't find anything to confirm this online, but compared to my interpretation of the theater policy (anti-gangsta snobbery), it was more in keeping with what the world's becoming.

That said, I saw the poster for V for Vendetta. "People should not be afraid of their governments- Governments should be afraid of their people." When I got home, I checked- the trailer was up for it! "Fear became the ultimate tool of this government." It looks true to the graphic novel, V's static, smiling mask looks much creepier in the semi-realistic movie world.
"The truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country."
Hmmm.
This film'll probably get a shitstorm of publicity based on lines like that in the trailer.
Just waiting for Anne Coulter to weigh in on it.

My radioplay is coming along nicely. I'm three quarters of the way through on the rough draft, doing it by hand then going to type up the revision. All ready started putting together people to do the voice work. If I can pull this off, it'll rock.
If.
Once I get it finished, I've got to do location scouting... wait. Radio. I mean, got to find .wavs for the sound effects. I *think* I've figured out the editing program so that I can work it way I want. We'll see.

Now, off to the con.

Nice trailer.. until the love child of Zorro and the Erik showed up. Too shiny. Took me out of the problem.
