Jul. 23rd, 2005 09:13 pmFantaSciCon was fun. Minimal, but fun. Since we, 1stCyborg and I, were there primarily for the horror authors' panel. I picked up a whole stack of books:
The Lebo Coven by Stephen Mark Rainey
Dark Shadows: Dreams of the Dark by Stephen Mark Rainey and Elizabeth Massie
Drown in Fear
and
All Prettied Up, a chap book, by Elizabeth Blue
The Occult Detectives of C.J. Henderson
and
Baby's First Mythos by C.J. Henderson and Erica Henderson
Cyber-Pulps Halloween Anthology 3.0, because it featured a short stotry from panelist Pamela K. Kinney
Two issues of CthulhuSex, 17 &19
and
Two issues of The Book of Dark Wisdom, issues 3 & 5
This should keep me busy for a couple of days.
I'd taken a huge ol' bag of David Niall Wilson stuff to get signed, as well as a couple of pieces by Patricia Lee Macomber, Elizabeth Massie and Stephen Mark Rainey. Massie and Rainey were sufficently nice to make me brake my embargo on vampire fiction, the fact that it was a Dark Shadows novel helped. I was familar with Elizabeth Blue from Shocklines. All of them, and Kinney, participated in a discussion of Women In Horror.
Later I had an interesting conversation with Michael Sean McGowan, a local author, about Shocklines and self-promotion. Electronic press kits on CD-Rom seemed to be a thing with some indy authors there. Nifty little idea actually.
