God Hates Shrimp. Yes, He does.

You'd think an organization like Book of the Month club could have an off shoot with a slightly classier name than Zooba... I'd have included a link, but it seems they're having server trouble.

Cruel Intentions was playing on ABC Family the other night. Followed an hour later by the 700 Club. First Legend on Pax, now this.

Zooba. Somewhere, there's a marketing person who needs to be punished.

Crazy Joe stopped by the bookstore today. First he claimed to have gone deaf- but had no trouble hearing me. Then he started speaking like Charlie Chan. Really. I'm his pal. He's told me this. The only thing that makes dealing with him worth while is watching the other customers watch us. Once, Joe related the story of how he dealt with someone... "and so I told him, YOU MESS WITH ME AGAIN AND I'LL BREAK YOUR NECK, SNAP IT LIKE A TWIG, and he never messed with me again." Guess which part of the story the customers hear. As he's leaning toward me. Inches away me. With his "homeless crazy guy" look goin' on. I'm standing there, almost serene. I know Joe won't hurt me, because I listen. But the customers don't know that.

I get several newsletters from all manner of creative types... tonight I got one from musician Kirk Talley and one from writer Warren Ellis. One after the other. Getting these two emails together was a terrific study in contrasts.
The fact that I can fit them both into my brain these days... it's like ASKING for an aneuryism.

You know how you can mute a tv set, just look at the pictures without the sound? I wish there was a function where you could turn the picture off and listen to the soundtrack, even WITH the dialogue and effects. Blackhawk Down is playing right now, a soundtrack of a mix of "movie music" and Dead Can Dance-ish music... I'm not looking at it, there's a towel covering the screen, actually. I figured out how to turn off the picture.

I like to tell girls who love Orlando Bloom that they need to see Black Hawk Down. And when I say "girls," I mean, females not old enough to drive. I tell them this because I am mean.

Call me nuts...
