Been a while... not much is going on in my life but i've had lots and lots of stuff to think about...
Like Sharpie commercials... it's like the world's bestest pen, so why the heck are they advertising? Maybe it'll become cool, then like a graffiti toy- writes on glass, kids!- and banned in schools.
Making plans for another trip North. John Carpenter's The Fog is coming out when I'm up there. Road trip to Future Shop.
Yesterday I woke up to an article on NPR about Indian Cinema - Bollywood. Including Soundtrack music from the movies discussed and bits from an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical on the subject. Makes for an... interesting morning.
This evening I was having a drink at the bar I frequent and I heard a song that was all at once strange and familiar... sad guy singing mournfully over acoustic guitar..."go on, go on, go walk a way..." he sang and then I was like "wait a second, that's the cure." `Inbetween days` I think.
Just found out I've been mispronouncing a word. Boy don't I feel silly... apparently Creutzfield-Jackobs is pronounced "Yakobs" and not "Jacobs". I think I'll just stick with CJD when discussing it.
Am planning a road trip in January. Spookycon . Whole bunch of my favourite authors will be there, so I'm packing a bag o'books. THAT should make for an interesting bag check at the airport... "Exquisite Corpse , Tales of Pain and Wonder , ... Bum Piss and Other City Scents ... Mr Hornik, could you please come over here for a moment?"
Spooky Con is sponsored byGothic.Net; GN is a online, by subscription magazine, $15 a year. It's well worth it, considering the talent they've published in the last several months (Poppy Brite, Caitlin Kiernan, Richard Christian Matheson, David Schow, Ramsey Campbell, and many other fine authors.)
