Yesterday, I saw Who Killed the Electric Car? with my parents at the Naro. Part of the fun was getting there in my fathers Prius hybrid, which my father drives mostly in electric stealth mode- it can pull up to the curb and a person on the sidewalk sufficently distracted- by say a cell phone- won't notice it til the doors slam shut after we get out.
WKtEC? is part of a current trend I'm loving: enjoyable documentaries. But unlike Spurlock or Moore, the filmmakers of WKtEC? seemed pretty balanced. It wasn't JUST big business and the government at fault for the demise of the EV1, it also had to do with the market, and consumer's fascination with Uber-Cars like hummers.
The problem with eco-friendly documentaries show at the Naro is that they attract the lefties... the smug superior lefties- there were declarations of agreement (OH YEAH!) when the War in Iraq was called a war for oil, and I'm no fan of the President, but I'm certainly not going to "BOO!" him when he's on the screen.
Again, they were Boo-ing. Like eight-year olds.
Not to mention the farker who had their cell phone or wristwatch go off- TWICE. (A cell also went off last week when I saw 20K Leagues Under The Sea. I think the Naro should yank these people out of the theater, take polaroids of them and post them in the lobby. A little public shunning can go a long way.)
This is the sort of behaviour I associate with the megaplexes.
Naro patrons should know better.

Oh, yummy goodness: Sunshine. What Sci-Fi should be.

I have my windows open today.
It's an attempt to get some of that "so-called" fresh air into my apartment.

It's also an attempt to share with the world some of my atmosphere.
Lesser people would call my atmosphere "stagnet." I think of it as seasoned.
Coffee.
Smoke.
Sweat.

All the scents that say "Clay".

I don't have company often.
Not because my apartment smells funny. Quite the opposite. I air the room out when I know company is coming.

Just no one visits me. Not in meatspace anyway. In cyberspace, I have an average of four visitors a day to my page. That's not counting the people who see me on friend's friends pages.

A thought just occurred to me- perhaps the farkers with the cell phones WEREN'T regular Naro patrons, but people from say... Virginia Beach, who've come into the City because none of the Uberplexes out there will carry docus. They don't know how to behave in a real city.
--
And no, Virginia Beach isn't a real city. It's a fake city. With a fake "Downtown". Putting several Tall Buildings across from a shopping mall doesn't qualify as a Downtown. Virginia Beach is, at it's core, a suburban construct.

I think I should eat something- I had dinner (two chicken breasts, a salad and some grilled veggies) at Dan & Ross's last night, and before that I had some appetizers at Kelly's with my parents before the movie... and that's it since a slice of pizza Friday night.
I call it The Model Diet.
Slightly light headed.
But no one will call me fat ever again.

I could see Naro putting up a cellphone criminal gallery. Suggest it.

You should have seen the righteous ex-hippies doing the "right on!" (with fist) for ramtha. eeeeeee. Felt like being surrounded by pitchforks and torches.

The only people worse than the people whose cell phones ring while they're in the movies are the people who answer their cell phones during the movies. I guess some people just don't realize how their actions affect other people...or they don't care I guess.

I remember that cell phone going off during 20k Under the Sea, Clay. And I wanted so badly to say, "Hey, this isn't Military Circle, home of the Urban Movie Experience". Gah...some people and their inconsideration of others. Didn't get a chance to see the electric car movie though; had to work this past weekend.
