According to StarTrek.com and a whole bunch of other sites, they're going to give the episodes of the original show an "upgrade." I think this has less to do with pandering to the fans, because the minutia loving, continuity obsessed cultists will probably hate the idea- much like a fan of the King James Version hates the New Revised Standard Version- and more to do with the fact that todays youngsters need the prettyshiny.

* Space ship exteriors - The Enterprise, as well as other starships, will be replaced with state of the art CGI-created ships. The new computer-generated Enterprise is based on the exact measurements of the original model, which now rests in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.
* Show opening - The Enterprise and planets seen in the main title sequence will be redone, giving them depth and dimension for the first time.
* Galaxy shots - All the graphics of the galaxy, so frequently seen through the viewscreen on the Enterprise's bridge, will be redone.
* Exteriors - The battle scenes, planets and ships from other cultures (notably the Romulan Bird of Prey and Klingon Battle Cruisers) will be updated.
* Background scenes - Some of the iconic, yet flat, matte paintings used as backdrops for the strange, new worlds explored by the Enterprise crew will get a CGI face-lift, adding atmosphere and lighting.

The refurbished episodes also feature higher quality sound for the famous opening theme. The original score by Emmy Award-winning composer Alexander Courage, has been re-recorded in state-of-the-art digital stereo audio with an orchestra and a female singer belting out the famous vocals. A digitally remastered version of William Shatner's classic original recording of the 38-word "Space, the final frontier..." monologue continues to open each
episode.

Maybe, if we're lucky, they'll use the LYRICS to the theme... I mean, it worked for Enterprise.

I can appreciate Orion Slave Girls as much as any fan but I think if I saw I guy wearing this t-shirt, at a con or not at a con even, I'd have to be restrained from delivering some kind of smacking. On Principle.

1)Who'd brag about something like that?
2) What's with the crappy artwork?
and
3) Why not Yvonne Craig?

yeah, but they'll buy it and watch it. they'll buy anything marketed to them , because they are smarter than the average consumer you see, because they aren't afraid to read francised science fiction, so you can't pull on over on them, just ask one they'll tell you so.

it will suck.

This is sad...Really, really sad. What next? Redo all those wonderful Harryhausen effects? If they did that, I'd be on the FBI's most wanted list.

This is like updating the Mona Lisa. Why?

I've actually seen that t-shirt....the girl looks less sultry than like a stoned She-Hulk as drawn by Fred Hembeck.
