Feb. 7th, 2007 09:36 pmI usually love Bank of the Commonwealth, but recently they changed their online banking procedures.
Before, you'd type in your username and password and there you were.
Now, you type your name in, and it takes you to another screen to type in your password. On that same page, you're asked to verify your personal image. You choose an icon that, I guess, changes if someone's tampered with your account. Mine's an elephant.
Yeah, to check my bank account, I have to look at a picture of an elephant.
What's even crazier is that if you start at the main page for the bank and click "Log In", you're told "You are now exiting Bank of the Commonwealth web site," and "You are going to a web site that Bank of the Commonwealth does not control and whose privacy policies may differ."
Emphasis mine.
Despite the fact that they've got that nifty disclaimer there, the next page you go to, the log-in page, has their corporate logo. No where is their name mentioned, mind you, but the logo looks like an mark of ownership if you ask me.
These gripes aside, they've given me over five years of good banking experiences and I'd quickly recommend them to anyone not wanting to deal with uber-banks.

Date: 2007-02-09 05:51 pm (UTC)My husband mentioned that someone studied BoA's system, and 48 out of 50 people still logged in when the wrong security picture was showing. So the human aspect is still failing miserably with it.
