Feb. 24th, 2007 12:20 amNightline goes to the Adult Video Expo.
I love the fact that HDTV maybe a problem for the industry... it's been pointed out that the fantasy figures in the videos would have their flaws and imperfections um... exposed.
One of the video companies is releasing their stuff on dual format disks- regular dvd on one side hdDvd on the other.
Unlike mainstream dvd companies that are doing the different formats in separate releases.
Another groundbreaking technological move on the part of the AV industry.
Don't think they do? Let me ask you a question: VHS or Beta?
Yeah, I thought so.

Numb3rs tonight was pretty clever... it started with the FBI guy being called into his bosses office and having to turn off his cell. Throughout the episode FBI guy and his boss examine FBI guy's relationship with his team. This was the b-story. The a-story was about a kidnapping investigation- an investigation that passed in near realtime. The team had to solve it without the assistance or leadership of FBI guy. It's rare to see realtime or near realtime done... anywhere. In fact one of the agents makes a comment about "twenty-four minutes" at 10:24pm. Clever. Not groundbreaking, but clever. We need more clever TV.

Best Clever Evah: Columbo. I've got season one on dvd and I never get tired of watching them. It's a combination of things. The plots- Brilliant. The acting- Amazing. The Seventies- Terrifying.
One of the plot points in the episode I'm watching is that a businessman spends a lot of time in Europe, so he's incommunicado.
I can't imagine a world where anyone is incommunicado.
Or a world where people smoke so much.
