Mar. 18th, 2003 12:12 amOk, we're like at DefCon 8 or somthing. Why they came up with the colour coding system, rather than using Defcon numbers... I dunno. I guess they figured colours are "friendlier". Or maybe Defcon sounds too militaristic. We might be the biggest sabre rattling around right now, but we don't have to look like it. I wonder what time it is on the big clock. "Two minutes to Midnight!" Was that a song? Who sang it? Geebus, some metal band... Judas Priest? Iron Maiden?
My boss called us after GW's speech tonight, giving us the 411 on what's going to hit the fan when... I know I'm going to cry when it happens. Just for a minute. I remember when it happened last time... Sigh. I get all antsy. Before, I had friends in the service. Now, I maybe know... two, three guys in the Navy, if that many. Rogue, of course and... ummm, damn. In a town like Norfolk, you'd think I'd know more Navy people. They're there in my neighbourhood. DoD stickers on cars all up and down my street. When the whole Afghanistan thing happened, they were packing up and shipping out left and right.
Think Happy Thoughts. ummmm. Happy Birthday Wired Magazine. Jeeze. Ten years. I still have the early issues somewhere. Happy Tree Friends. They're happy... sort of. Think "Itchy and Scratchy" from the Simpsons. Check 'em out.
Spookycon 2 is gearing up. mmmmmm porridge with ham and thousand year egg. It's so totally messed up that that's why I want to go. And coffee from that little bakery, with the little bowtie pastery. Oh yeah. Bernie Wrightson. Need to start getting back issues of Swampthing. And Caitlin Kiernan. Woooohooooo!
