Breakfast cooked and consumed.  I need to butter the frying pan a little more to keep the eggs from sticking, but I picked up a spatula at Farm Fresh last night and I was able to get one of the eggs prepared over hard, the other one ... not quite as scrambled as yesterday.
The bacon I use is pre-cooked so it's not releasing enough grease for the eggs while I'm cooking the bacon.

Dishes are washed and in the drying rack.
It's funny, but there's something centering about such simple activites.
I'm thinking it's a good way to start my morning, not just with the nutrition but with a simple ... meditative activity.

It's not pretentious to call dishwashing a meditative activity is it?

No.  But it is pretentious to blog about it.

I read Michael Marshall (Smith)'s novel The Intruders yesterday.  It's like Michael Connelly writing an X-Files episode- crime novel and conspiranoia for the first three-quarters and the last quarter goes into the country of the weird.
I'm going to have to get a copy for the store.

Amazon is selling drm free mp3s.  Oh man.  It's like the best of emusic.com meets the best of itunes, which still sucks.  emusic has a crappy interface that led me to get some songs from itunes because I couldn't find them anywhere else, drm locked songs that didn't need to be because emusic had them unlocked, just impossible to find without twenty minutes of looking.

I walked down to the new Market & picked up a salad for lunch today. What a great place. I can envision myself walking down after work to get things for dinner, heading back to the Pilot, driving home, etc. It does feel so urban.

Glad to see you are enjoying it & having fun with the cooking. And the washing. Yep, have to comment on that. It is a meditative activity. All the excess energy flows off into the washing while your brain zones on whatever you want. Just thought I'd share. Enjoy.

Get real bacon. Especially the el-cheapo, 99.9% fat kind. Fry some up nice and crisp, drain, and save the grease in a jar. Refrigerate it.

Use that for cooking the eggs in. About a teaspoon is enough in a small non-stick pan, maybe 2-3x as much for an iron skillet.

The bacon tastes great, if you like crispy bacon. The side products, which are normally annoying and are tossed, are useful. The bacon costs less. Happy tummy and wallet.
