Sep. 26th, 2007 07:39 amI'll get over this breakfast nerd fixation in a couple of days, bear with me... but I 've figured out a bit of a hack.
My kitchen is old and small, only two electrical sockets. I don't use my gas stove other than as a place to keep pots and pans and somewhere to put my microwave, so when I cook something I use a electric heating element; I guess it's a hotplate, but it looks like it was ripped from an electric stove and put into a little base. The coffee maker uses one of the sockets (of course) and that leaves the other one for both the toaster and the hotplate-thing.
I start the coffee then make the toast. The coffee maker is large enough to support a plate, so after the toast is done, I butter it and put it on the plate, a plate that stays warm. Unplug the toaster, plug in the hotplate-thing, cook the eggs and bacon. The toast will still be warm thanks to the extra heat from the coffee maker.
Ta-Da!
This is the grocery store I'm talking about. The floor above it is a parking garage, accessable via elevator. Cool points to photographer Bill Tiernan for getting into the middle of Bousch Street to take the picture.

Hefty makes the coolest thing: Jumbo (2.5 gal.) ziploc bags. Large enough for a toaster, literally. This way any remaing breadcrumbs won't attract ants and stuff.
