And another piece of the iceburg that is my past melts into the ocean...
Campaign Headquarters, the local RPG store, has closed.
According to [livejournal.com profile] seaphilo, the door is padlocked and the lights are off.
P and I popped in late last year, but since I've gotten away form the role playing games, I didn't pick anything up.
And I guess not too many people have either.
I remember the first time I heard about it, in the kitchen at my aunt's house.  She was a social studies teacher and it was an election year, so she was looking for political places... "Campaign Headquarters" looked political.  When she found out it was the local Dungeons and Dragons store, she gave me the heads up.  My maternal grandmother lived pretty close, so it was always a place I'd hit when I was staying over at her apartment.
After sixth grade I'd gotten away from the gaming stuff, and I'd successfully avoided the gravity pull of the dice until the mid nineties.
I'd still pop in since CHq started carrying comics, picking up the stock of the Beehive in the wake of the implosion.  The liquidated that stuff eventually, returning to focus on the games, Magic the Gathering and other collectable card games like Pokemon... and now...
it's gone.
Good times there.
Amy, Matt, Derek, Melissa & Karen, some really good times.

It'll be interesting to see if Portfolio picks up on it, since the clientele aren't quite the Portfolio crowd.
