Mar. 23rd, 2008 11:01 amSo I woke up this morning with a son in my head- "One for my baby (and one more fore the road)". It's a melancholy song, at best, and I usually think of it as night song. It's quarter to three, there's no one in the place,except you and me.
Two and three-quarter hours after midnight, right? Middle of the night in a practically deserted dive bar. Drinking slowly toward oblivion.
What if it were 2:45 pm?
The prospect of some guy, in a suit, always a rumpled suit, sitting at a bar, empty but for him and the bartender, because everyone else is at work, is much more sad.
