So, the ODU Publishing Festival was pretty nifty, and the Future of the Book panel was neat.
Bill Hill from Microsoft via telepresence was a real treat, speaking from first hand experience as an owner of a Kindle and as someone who was involved in making typefaces so that the net is a readable place.  The other panelist was from ODU's library, Glenn Bunton, and he reminded us about the archivist function of librarians I'd not given consideration.
All in all, a good afternoon.

Saw In Bruges last night with the parents.   Um.  Oh.
Well, it looked like lighter than it was.  Black comedy is something different when the Brits do it.
I actually found it pretty funny, but my idea of funny  (SARS) is kind of off, so I was relieved that dad found it funny as well.
I knew mom was going to enjoy the sights of a medieval Belgian city.

The local PBS station surprised me a while back with an addition to their lineup-Doctor Who.  Unlike WUND, however- they ran the 2005 series last year- WHRO is showing the Tom Baker episodes.  This means I'm going to have to send them some money.  I swore I wouldn't until they ran Doctor Who.  Tonight they're starting their "Britcom" lineup- more of what they've been doing for years, really, including Keeping Up Appearances.  One treat will be Black Adder, played by Rowan (Mr Bean) Atkinson.  I'm not sure what the programming people are up to though, since they're running Black Adder Goes Forth -season four of the show, set during World War 1.  Season two, during the reign of Elizabeth , is more fun, with Atkinson coming off as almost dashing.
Don't take my word for it- see:
