Watched the first episode of True Blood on HBO on Demand tonight.
P, as a fan of 6ft Under and good ol' HBO storytelling, enjoyed it.
I, as someone who hates vampireloveparanormalromances.... hates them, really really hates them, appreciated elements of the show.
Anna Paquin was good as Sookie, the psychic waitress, almost underplaying it at times, while her best friend Tara, played by Rutina Wesley, steals the show as a sarcastic barmaid.
Sookie fall for the mysterious brooding new vampire in town, Angel Bill.
I think my problem with this whole thing is... there isn't anything I haven't seen somewhere else. Yes, it's done beautifully, but it's still the same old.

I'm kind of hoping Fringe will work for me, I mean, look at the frog, but I have doubts all 12 episodes will run... because, well it's on Fox.

Which I shouldn't knock too hard because I picked up v4 of the X-Files mythology dvds this weekend, the last episodes of the show in the supersoldier story arc... to have the right mindset to watch them, I rewatched the first episode of the X-Files.
Still holds up.

I wasn't big on Fringe; too gory for me, not enough real "fringe" science. But the pilot was reworked since I saw it, so it might be better.

True Blood is based on the Sookie novels? Didn't know that. Eh. I've read the books, and books are usually better than shows.

Leverage is way cool, if you're in for the "good thieves rip off big businesses" thing.
