Music in Commercials-
Iggy Pop songs. Skinny punk former smack junkie- and now more people than ever are hearing his stuff in commercials. This amuses me.
"What Lola Wants." First in a jeans commercial, now in a potato chip commercial. The jeans commercial was pretty cool. The Pringles commercial is just kinda stupid.

I wish I could find the quote (check "All Tomorrow's Parties") from Gibson but it goes something like this. As the total amount of culturally relevant material produced decreases and as more and more existing material is reduced to commercial purposes we will eventually reach a point where all cultural relevancy has been subsumed by the marketing engine. Romeo and Juliet sell perfume. Geroge Orwell sells computers. We've become so obsessed by attaching a message to a product that the message itself has become lost.
