Jan. 23rd, 2011 10:39 pm I hate bookscanners- people who lurk in the book section of thrift stores with barcode readers checking the values of books.
It's not because there's no place for tech stuff in the used book world.
It's the fact that most of them are so clueless about the books that we actually saw one scan a copy of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil in hardcover.
It's such a common book that it goes for a penny on amazon and ninety-nine cents on ebay.
And he had to scan it. Because he didn't know better.

If a number of books look good I'll buy them at the store because I like having bookstores where I can browse. Used bookstores have a special place in my heart. However, I admit I buy almost all technical books online, as well as most new releases. Free shipping and no sales tax are a fine incentive.
