Three years ago, I had a computer die on me. Despite a lack of an iPod and the fact I used to be a hardcore believer in mp3s, I had iTunes on it, thanks to a Pepsi promotion for free music, eighty five tracks of music and several tv shows.
With the death of that computer, I figured all that was lost. I called (yes, called!) Apple to see if they were somehow restorable to my replacement computer. Nope, they said.
That was three years ago.
Last night I was looking at the latest version of iTunes, and they've got a new feature- new to me anyhow- "previously purchased downloads". All eighty-five songs are there. My episodes of Adam-12 and Surface, among other shows, are available to watch again.
I'm glad to have them back. It's not that I paid a lot for them, since I got the majority of them through a promotion.
But it was a lot of Pepsi.

Yep. Amazon did the same thing a while back (not positive it's out of beta, though).
