Helter Skelter

clayhornikI'm glad I worked yesterday- it mean's I'm going to be off next week, giving me time to get all excited over the new version of Helter Skelter airing on CBS.
I have a weird memory of listening to my cousin Beth talk about the original, in the dining room of their old, old house. I remember her saying how he looked like Jesus. Since I was... oh, 7 or so at the time, that's what I remember the most.
That and the wood paneling of the dining room, there was a painting of a fruit bowl on the wall.
Helter Skelter, Jesus and murders. I didn't read the book til I was a sophomore in high school, despite the fact that I think EVERYONE had a copy back then, my mom, my aunt, my grandmother. How we missed out on having it turned into a bedtime story, I don't know.
I eventually cought a rebroadcast during the CBS Late Show. Not sure when that was...
It's funny- ten years ago, you'd say "Manson" and it would elicit the mental image of a crazed cult leader. Now it's a crazed band leader.
I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.
