clayhornikI don't think this program allows for indentation at the beginning of a paragraph. This offends my sense of ... hmmm- journalistic aesthetics, perhaps? Tabbing doesn't work, neither does spacing over five times. On the other hand, it is a free program.
I spent today scanning the bookshelves at work for returns; what this means is I take a barcode scanner over every book in a section. If a book if flagged to be returned, for various reasons including low sales and newer editions, the scanner beeps. This allows a great deal of mental "downtime" so I can think about various things: my writing projects (THE NOVEL 7.5), composing emails to "write" when I get home, and thinking about things to put in my journal, like memorable customers. I was working in the travel section and I started remembering all the odd requests I've gotten over the last few years.
Did you know that there's a travel guide to Antarctica? Yep from the Lonely Planet company. These guys make some of the coolest travel guides out there. And did you know that there's NO Zagat's guide for Tidewater, Virginia? Imagine that. I asked the customer who wanted it where she was from and she replied "New York".
I got some good work done on The Novel this morning, finally realizing what sort of direction I hope it takes. I'll see where it ends up when I get there. Was reminded of a Charles DeLint short story while surfing the net... there's a reference to a song by Martha & The Muffins called "Echo Beach". I don't understand why... "Danseparc" was much cooler. I'm having a hard time with the idea of music in THE NOVEL. Music will be a part of the character's lives, but how intrusive will it be?
I tried to write a short story that was meant to be read while listening to a specific song (I put a spell on you by M. Manson). It was an interesting attempt. Might try to retool it for "normal" reading.
I've decided that I like audiogalaxy more than morpheus. Yes, morpheus has porn*, but audiogalaxy has a wider assortment of music. I couldn't find Danseparc on Morpheus.
Well. Have to be at work in eight hours. Time to crash.
* this is a joke. porn is demeaning and objectifying to it subjects and takes up way too much memory.
