Aug. 4th, 2004 06:20 pmJust had a nap and dreamed.
I was driving to a convention that Neil Gaiman was going to be at. The con was off the coast road- I'd stopped at a convenience store/gas station/rest stop, redbrick outside, lemon merangue yellow inside, and the proprietor, dressed in overalls and a baseball cap, leaing back in her chair, told me to turn off about five miles away from the store. I asked her "Left or Right?" and she looked at me funny, I realized I was driving along a COAST road and that I could only turn one way.
The geography was screwy, dream geography, the water just inches away from the edge of the road, occasionally lapping over, having to drive faster than a rising tide. Turning off the road onto something with an impossibly acute angle, drive way, parking lot. My room was at a twist in a stair's landing. I had a roommate, but I can't remember too much about him. I remember the driving, the speed.
I haven't driven in years. It was nice.

I purchased contacts today. Eye-exam, the whole shebang. I tell you - Optometrists HATE it when you cry "IT BURNS! IT BURNS!" after inserting a contact.
